‘Les Mis’ in Myrtle Beach…
This is the third of three quick looks at several school’s activities during Youth Arts Month.
Opening tonight! With a cast of 45 students, the Performing Arts Department of Carolina Forest High School presents the Broadway musical Les Miserables. This exciting production showcases CFHS students’ amazing vocal and acting talents. The show is directed by Wayne Canady, Becky Bannon, Kelly Hall and Horry County School Teacher of the Year, Kraig McBroom. The show’s choreographer is nationally renowned Broadway choreographer Alan Coats, who recently choreographed the national tour of “Peter Pan”.
Carolina Forest High School Performing Arts Department has successfully presented many Broadway plays in past years: Aida in 2008, Cats in 2009, Grey Gardens in 2010, and The Drowsy Chaperone in 2011. In 2013, CFHS will present Phantom of the Opera. Located in Myrtle Beach, this school is part of the Horry County School District.

I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO VIEW THIS PLAY AND IT WAS FABULOUS ! OUR FRIENDS FROM UPSTATE NEW YORK COMMENTED THAT THEY HAD NEVER SEEN A STAGE PRODUCTION WITH SUCH FINE PERFORMERS. THEY WERE IMPRESSED!!!!!!
WE LOVED IT.
It was AWESOME!
My husband and I are fans of Broadway plays, having been blessed to see many. We were encouraged to attend Les Mis at your school. Realizing it is high school students presenting the musical, our anticipation was not keen, but interested knowing this particular musical would be a great challenge even for adults! My, how we were surprised!!! The star roles were exceptional in voice and acting! Surely hope at least some of them are N.Y. City bound! The staging, scenery and choreography were beautifully presented! We were more than impressed with the talent within your school. Cudos to you all as you surely, ‘broke a leg’!!!!!
